Oh, was that your countdown? I was wondering who the person with such awful taste was.
ReplyDeleteWell, I'm guessing, anyway. Past the age of 10 I don't think I've seen more than parts of any of those. The only animated film from my childhood that I went back to watch recently was The Secret of NIMH - and it's not on the list!?! Blasphemy.
"I was wondering who the person with such awful taste was."
ReplyDeleteHaha!
"The only animated film from my childhood that I went back to watch recently was The Secret of NIMH - and it's not on the list!?!"
No. Maybe I should go back to it - I haven't seen it for a long while.
Boy, Leaves is really on the warpath these days! He recently went after Allan Fish, who has probably seen about a hundred times as many films as he has on the international scene and overall. Leaves's game is always to try and impress with foreign-language cinema, but he's barking up the wrong tree at WitD, as that is the cinema that prevails there.
ReplyDeleteYour taste Stephen was exquisite, and you provided a course in the form that has inspired many to seek out a number of films, particularly Russian and Eastern European gems. Your writing was magnificent, and your diversity undeniable.
It was definitely a high watermark at Wonders in the Dark, and we were truly honored to have your kind of singular expertise there! Many thanks!
Thanks again Sam. I wish a Happy New Year to you and your family.
ReplyDeleteHey Stephen. This is one for the generations. I'm bookmarking it for reference. Again, I run out of adjectives to describe how useful this countdown is for those venturing out into the genre. Will keep coming back.
ReplyDeleteHaven't been able to read blogs of late. Will try to mend that this year.
And yes, wish you and your family and friends a very joyful new year.
Cheers!
Thanks JAFB!
ReplyDelete"Haven't been able to read blogs of late. Will try to mend that this year."
Now that I've completed the countdown I too can go back to looking over the blogs I used to frequent. When it comes to using a blog as a guide for venturing into the world of Cinema, THE SEVENTH ART is unbeatable.
A happy new year to you too.

ReplyDeleteI... I don't understand. Why would anyone want to try to impress anyone with the amount of films they've seen? I would never try, and have never tried, so this accusation seems rather specious and is surely a result of poor reading comprehension.
Speaking of poor reading comprehension, did you notice that what I said was a joke, completely and utterly and unambiguously? Because everyone else did...
Speaking of poor reading comprehension, again, this attack of yours is based on a reading of a post of mine on your site that I feel is completely ludicrous, stemming from this same absurd premise that I am trying to 'impress with the amount of films I have seen'. I can't apologize for something I'm not guilty of doing, I'm afraid. I hold no ill will toward you for misreading my post, but extending that misreading into a mission to attack me wherever possible is a bit ridiculous. Maybe you should take a step back, realize that your accusation is absolutely ludicrous, and we can move forward.
Sorry for the hubbub, Stephen, but somebody needs to put something in context.
No problem, LEAVES.
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year.
